מזל טוב קרישנה
עוד שנה עברה לה, ולקרישנה יש יום הולדת. חמישה עשר ימים לפני יום הולדתו של קרישנה ההינדים מקשטים נדנדות בכל טוב לקרישנה התינוק. על פי סיפוריהם , בילדתו נהגה אימו "החורגת" זו שגידלה אותו, דייבקי, לנדנד את קרישנה בעריסת התינוק שלו וכנראה שהוא מאוד אהב את זה.
הסיפור משליך רבות על הפסטיבל להולדתו של קרישנה, הנדנדות ועליהן דמויות קרישנה התינוק מעוטרות בצבעי זהב ופרחים, וזה נחשב סגולה לברכה לנדנד את הנדנדה בה יושבת הדמות, לקראת ערב יום ההולדת מפזרים על הרצפה פרחים ומוודאים שהנדנדה ערוכה ומוכנה לטקס בלילה.
הסיפורים מספרים עוד, שלקרישנה הייתה אהבה מיוחדת למתוקים. לכן, האם שגידלה את התינוק, נהגה לתלות את כד הממתקים לחבל כדי שהזאטוט לא יוכל להגיע אליו. לכן ביום ההולדת עצמו קושרים כד חרס בחבל ובעזרת פרמידה אנושית צריכים להגיע לכד ולשבור אותו, זה לא פשוט כמו שזה נשמע. בכל מקום במדינה נהוג לעשות זאת מעל בוץ, כאשר קורעים מעל המנסים את החולצה, זורקים עליהם בוץ או חול, מנדנדים את הכד והכל בכדי להקשות את שבירת הכדץ הסיפורים פה מספרים שבמומביי הצליחו פעם לעשות פרמידה אנושית עומדת של 10 שכבות כאשר ברקע זורקים בלוני מיים על הפרימידה וקורעים את בגדי המתחרים.
כל זה היה רקע לחוויה המיוחדת והאדירה של להיות נוכח באירועי יום ההולדת של האל קרישנה.
במהלך היום הלימודים הסתיימו מוקדם יותר, וכולם פנו או לביתהם או לעזרה בקישוט חצר בית הספר. קומת העמודים המפולשת עוטרה פרחים בקפידה ובדייקנות, נוקתה ונבנתה בה נדנדה.
חזרתי בלילה לבית הספר השעה הייתה מאוחרת אך המוסיקה העידה כי האירוע רק בתחילתו, בצידי שביל הכניסה לבית הספר מוקמו להן מנורות שמן בתוך צלוחיות חרס, השביל המואר הוביל ישירות אל הנדנדה עטופת הפרחים בגוון כתום שולט, מתחתיה בצורה גאומטרית מוקמו עלי כותרת בצבעי סגול וכתום לסרוגין. בכדי לא לדרוך על סידור הפרחים נקשר חבל שאותו אפשר היה למשוך ולנדנד את בובת הקרישנה הישובה על הנדנדה כדי לסייע בידה לישון. ריח קטורת חריף הציף את מפלס העמודים. מאחורי הנדנדה היתה המולה רבה, כולם רקדו את ריקוד הגרבה במעגלים במעין מנטרה, חלקם שותים את משקה האלים ("פאף") אחרים מעשנים עשבים בטוח שכולם נהנו מאד.
אחרי זמן מה עברנו לנדנדה, היו כאלו שבירכו את האש וזו עברה מהאחד לשני וכמו בערב שבת בהדלקת הנרות אצלינו, כל אחד בירך את האש, ניסה להכיל אותה בין ידיו ואז נשק אותן, קרישנה קיבל ממתקים וקוקוסים וכל טוב. האירוע נמשך עד השעות הקטנות של הלילה.
בבוקר החלו ההכנות למסיבת הורדת הכד, מים נשפכו בכמויות רבות על החול, כדי חרס הובאו ומולאו בצבע, פרחים ועוד. חבל נתלה באויר, תקליטן הופיע על מנת לחמם את האווירה ומשקה האלים חולק.
הכל היה לקראת האקסטזה, ברגע שנתלה הכד הראשון באויר, נורתה יריית הפתיחה וכולם החלו להתפרע, חולצות נקרעו, מים הושפרצו, חול ובוץ עפו לכל עבר, אנשים נסחבו בכוח ונזרקו על הבוץ. בקיצור מהומה גדולה ובלאגן רב כאלו שרואים בצילומי הנשיונל ג'אוגרפיק כשחוקר תרבות מסביר על אותם ילידים.
הפרמידה האנושית החלה להתהוות, עומדים במעגל ועל העומדים מטפסים שכבה נוספת ועוד אחת אם צריך, בקיצור טירוף! בינתיים משליכים עליהם בוץ חולצות קרועות ומנסים להפיל אותם.
מידי פעם מתחילים לרקוד את ריקוד הגרבה או לזרוק אדם חדש נקי לבוץ ולפשוט מעליו את חולצתו, לא היה אחד שהתקרב ונשאר נקי.
כך במשך כמה שעות. בסוף האירוע חזרנו לרקוד את ריקוד הגרבה עייפים אך מרוצים.
כמות החול שאכלתי באותו היום לא תאומן.
